Gameplay Elements

As defined previously, Sabbat is an original mechanic that encompasses all other mechanics.
It takes the role of tap that create:
- World effect - each major arcana card revealed during the gameplay loop impacts the state of the world for good or bad. It facilitates emergency and makes every playthrough different as it is up to the player's strategy on how many cards he unravels. However, it comes with a trade-off, the fewer cards players unravel less powerful his character will be during action-adventure parts of the game.
- Spells and items - each completed major arcana card can be further used by the player during the action-adventure part to increase the power level of his character. It will be possible for players to use these cards:
- as spells which he can cast during combat,
- to improve his dagger and by this increased power of his melee combat stance,
- to improve his robe and hat to increase the passive stats of his character.
- Special regents - sometimes, a player will be given a quest to acquire a specific major arcana card during a Sabbat. This will encourage exploration of the mechanic and facilitate urgency of the action.
Moreover, Sabbat will take the role of drain and converter:
Symbolism observed in the Sabbat derives from archetypical and symbolic tarot presented in its tradition. It is closely connected with the usage of tarot as a divination tool and encompasses the society's view by the people of its time with astrology and esoteric practice. This symbolism can be observed in the tables below with associated in game-effect.
